Join us for a hands‑on, down‑to-earth workshop all about the pest plants causing trouble in our backyards, reserves, and wider landscape. Leanne Steel from Whāingaroa Weedbusters and Reuben Libline, WRC's local-area pest-plant legend, will lead the workshop. Together we’ll learn how to confidently identify a handful of the most common invasive weeds, understand why they’re such a problem for our native forests and wildlife, and explore simple and effective ways to control each one at home or on your trapline.
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener, a weekend weeder, or just curious about what’s growing on your boundary, this session will give you practical skills, clear guidance, and a chance to connect with others who care about restoring our local environment.
Come along, bring your questions, and leave empowered to make a real difference right where you live.
Bring secateurs and gloves if you can, as it'll be experiential learning!
Location:
The venue is on Greenslade Road on a block of restoration planting. Entrance is a farm gate on the left-hand side, opposite number 40 Greenslade. Parking is very tricky on this narrow road with no footpath and no berm, so try carpooling. Otherwise, there's a bit of parking on the layby at the site entrance, and we'll figure it out on the day.
