🌿 Become a Burrow Buddy 🌿
🌿Info Evening Invitation 🌿
Are you passionate about local wildlife and keen to make a hands-on difference in Whaingaroa? We’d love to invite you to a special evening to learn about becoming a Burrow Buddy – a unique volunteer role supporting the ōi / grey-faced petrel.
During the evening, you'll discover the fascinating world of the ōi, a taonga species that breeds right here in Whaingaroa. Learn about their history, life cycle, and habits, and find out how you can help monitor and protect them.
As a Burrow Buddy, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that checks a trapline weekly or fortnightly and records key data about the ōi's activity around their burrows. It’s a rewarding way to connect with nature and contribute to local conservation.
You’ll also have the chance to meet and chat with past and current Burrow Buddies, hear their stories, and get a real feel for what’s involved.
Whether you’re a seasoned nature lover and trapper or just curious about volunteering and getting started, we’d love to see you there!
