Bait Refill Day

Are you a nature lover? 🌱

Like you - we feel incredibly fortunate to live in this beautiful corner of the world!

In 2026, we’re continuing the amazing mahi already done by hundreds of volunteers.  Can you contribute a few hours this year to help us fill bait stations on Karioi?

Join us for an important mission that’s rewarded with more and more birdsong and… cake!

Why volunteer with us?

🌱 Play a crucial role in conservation efforts to protect native wildlife.

🌱 Experience the breathtaking beauty of Karioi while making a positive impact.

🌱 Meet like-minded individuals and be part of a great community.

You’ll receive:

🌱 Lots of baking!

🌱 All the training and info you need.

🌱 A baiting buddy if it's your first time up the maunga.

🌱 A "thank you" from the birds and trees that will love your work!

No prior experience is necessary – just a willingness to get involved, and a love for nature! Whether you're a seasoned environmentalist or simply someone who wants to give back to the planet, we welcome you to join us.

However, a reasonable level of fitness is necessary because tracks can be uneven and steep at times, and you’ll be carrying a backpack with up to about 5-10kg of bait (until you start deploying it!). Saying that we’ve had volunteers ranging from 15 to 75 in the past! (We can match track difficulty levels to the perfect volunteer for the job.)

Time: Meet at 8 am. Finished between 1 and 3 pm

What to Bring: Sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water bottle, lunch, and enthusiasm!
