Bush Gully + extension
(On the Wild West Coast)
We’re sending you to the Wild West Coast!
This video is the quickest way to explain your line. It’s worth taking a minute to watch it! If you prefer written instructions and a map, scroll down.
Your line: Bush Gully (BG) and its extension (BG/EXT)
Entry point: Park 3.7 km south of the Te Toto Lookout - you’ll find a spot there to leave your car. Be mindful that another volunteer may need to park there too.
From there, you can access ONE bait station and ONE stoat trap on the BG-Extension, then back to the road. Now walk 900 m north towards the start of Bush Gully.
Near BG-BS06, you can access the other end of the extension, before returning to Bush Gully to finish it off.
There are 12 bait stations and 9 traps.
Exit point: Once done, walk 250 m south along the road to get back to the car.
Your line is also a trapline, so if you think you can manage both baiting and trapping, why not take your trapping kit along too?
Be ready for DOC200s & Flipping Timmies.
On TrapNZ:
Traps will be on the ‘KP-Raglan’ project, but
Bait stations will be on ‘KP-Bait Lines’ project.
If you have a buddy, you can each be on a different ‘project’ and each record one set of data. Alternatively, jot down your trap data, and enter it later. Switching back and forth between projects is a bad idea!
