Feracol Striker Info

One of the toxins we’ll be using works a little differently from the others. Instead of going into bait stations, each portion is already made into a solid Feracol Striker and gets stapled directly to a tree. These target both rats and possums.

Feracol contains Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D₃). In high doses, it’s toxic to mammals, which is why it’s effective for pest control.

How to keep yourself safe

Even though Strikers are solid and low‑dust, follow these basic precautions:

• Wear gloves when handling Strikers.

• Don’t ingest it (obviously).

• Avoid getting it in your eyes — the paste component can irritate.

• Wash hands after handling, before eating or drinking.

• Keep Strikers away from pets and waterways.

First Aid (simple version)

Swallowed:

• Rinse mouth.

• Do NOT induce vomiting.

• Seek medical attention immediately.

• Call 0800 POISONS (0800 764 766).

Eyes:

• Rinse gently with clean running water for 15 minutes.

• Remove contact lenses after the first few minutes.

• Get medical advice if irritation continues.

Skin:

• Wash with plenty of soap and water.

• Seek medical attention if redness or irritation develops.

Inhalation:

• Move to fresh air and rest.

• Seek medical advice if breathing becomes difficult.

Symptoms to watch for

Large ingestion can cause high blood calcium, leading to nausea, vomiting, extreme thirst, fatigue, and other delayed symptoms. Repeated exposure can affect the blood and hematopoietic system.
